What They Do
Community Justice Reform Coalition is a national advocacy coalition that promotes and invests in evidence-based policies and programs to prevent gun violence and uplift criminal justice reforms in urban communities of color. CJRC believes that freeing communities from trauma begins with reimagining and redefining what safety and security mean for those at the margins of society. That’s why they work to fill the leadership gap within mainstream advocacy by centering communities of color, and changing the face of gun violence prevention.
What We Love
CJRC’s approach is distinct from the preponderance of national organizations working on gun violence prevention. They are wisely and methodically working to fill a critical leadership gap in the violence prevention space — partnering with effective, community based, grassroots organizations who have both the credibility and the reach required to engage and learn from communities of color.
