What They Do
SSDN’s nearly 100 local government members come together from 10 states throughout the South. The network provides a trusted, collaborative, and member-driven community that develops solutions to the South’s unique sustainability challenges. Members build knowledge and learn from colleagues about best practices to meet their communities’ needs.
What We Love
SSDN supports members in their access to and pursuit of federal funding, via the new Southeast Sustainable Recovery Center. The goal for this program is to support local governments in bringing more federal dollars into the South to support economic recovery rooted in sustainability and resilience.
In addition to peer learning, SSDN also supports member engagement in state energy policy, as a natural and necessary advancement of local government sustainability as a field of practice. Local governments view engagement in state energy policy as a critical component to create broader and systemic change.
