What They Do
Headwaters Economics works with community leaders, landowners, public land managers, elected officials and business owners to provide credible economic and science-based information to help them make better decisions for natural resource management and community development. Headwaters not only publishes their peer reviewed research in scholarly journals, but they have developed easy-to-use online economic analysis tools that have become the data standards for the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service.
What We Love
Headwaters plays a vital and unique role in Montana and throughout the west by providing unbiased, economic and science-based research for community leaders at no cost. This research is used not only on the local level, for example by communities making plans future plans for growth, but throughout the west by agency decision makers in helping communities to be fire-adapted through improved land use planning practices.
