What They Do
Working Films builds partnerships between documentary filmmakers and advocates to advance social justice and environmental sustainability. Since 1999 Working Films has explored ways for advocacy organizations to use the power of documentary storytelling to engage people in active pursuit of justice. The group has issued a statement of principles for filmmakers, highlighting three core themes for artists to embrace when working in community: 1) Commit to cultivating community collaboration, 2) Honor the journey while respecting traditions, and 3) Value multiplicity by demonstrating many truths.
What We Love
Working Films engages activists and community leaders directly in developing their storytelling narratives – and leverages the power of documentary film to amplify those stories.
