What They Do
The Alliance Theatre has become the leading producing theatre in the Southeast, creating the powerful experience of shared theatre for diverse people. The theatre has one of the most successful and respected acting education programs in the country. This community of artists, administrators, and business and civic leaders is devoted to theatre, arts, and arts education.
What We Love
This innovative program develops and nurtures new artistic talent like few other companies in the country. For more than 11 years, the Alliance Theatre has hosted the Kendeda Graduate Playwriting Competition, a one-of-a-kind national competition that transitions student playwrights to the world of professional theatre. The annual competition has helped identify emerging writers and advance the careers of countless finalists, providing much needed support for up-and-coming artists during the often tricky transition between fine arts graduate school and the working world.
